FAQ
Please see below frequently asked questions. If you cannot find the answer below that you require feel free to ask your question using the
ask a question form on the website.
What if I have a power cut?
Your intruder alarm control panel contains a rechargeable backup battery. A regularly maintained system will run for at least 8 hours using the backup battery. All alarms installed since October 2005 will run on standby for at least 12 hours to comply with the new European standards.
What happens if I have an extension/new doors or windows?
All of our systems are flexible and can easily be upgraded with additional detectors to accommodate any changes to your property. If you are changing your doors or windows please contact the office so an engineer can disconnect the current detectors. There will be a small charge for this service.
Will my pets activate a detector?
Unless we have installed pet tolerant detection devices your pets will activate the alarm. We suggest that you close the doors to all rooms containing movement detectors or change your detectors to special pet tolerant devices.
What do I do when I go on holiday?
If you have an audible only alarm (i.e. not monitored) you do not need to let us know. We advise however that you leave a key with someone you can trust in case of an alarm activation. If you have a monitored system it is
vital you contact us to change your key holders availability. You may need to add a temporary key holder for the system. If this is the case it is vital they know your codeword/password. This could be done online using our
keyholder form.
Why do i need a password?
This is so that the monitoring station and ourselves are able to verify that you have the right to make changes to your alarms system.
If we have a problem/incident out of normal working hours, will we be able to contact anyone?
Yes, we operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have Engineers on duty out of hours, including weekends and all bank holidays. If you require an engineer please call our head office on 0151 282 9999 where an on-call number will be given out.
Can we have broadband/ADSL on the same line as the alarm?
Yes, however we will need to install a special filter to the line.
Can alarm systems include panic buttons?
Yes, panic buttons can either be fixed or wireless depending on your system. If your alarm is monitored you can receive police response when used.
Can the alarm be set at night?
Yes, using a part set you are able to set the alarm when you got to bed. This will remove any zones that might be used during the night e.g. hall landing detector.
How long is my system guranteed for?
All systems come with 12 months guarantee from handover. All parts labour and call outs are included in the warranty excluding third party damage.
Will I get discount on my insurance if I have an intruder alarm?
Many insurance companies will give you a small reduction in your premium if a professional alarm system is installed and serviced under contract by an insurance approved company like us.
What happens if I forget my user code?
Although we do not hold any information regarding user codes if you call our office we can arrange for our engineers to come out and reset the code for you.
How to I update/ammend my keyholders?
You can use our online
keyholder form or contact the office using the contact details at the bottom of this page.
